The coalition government submitted its bill on reforming the country’s electoral law on Wednesday. The bill introduces a proportional representation system, abolishes the 50-seat bonus that was given to the first party and gives voting rights to 17-year-olds.
Debate on the bill among the relevant Parliamentary Committees is scheduled to begin on Thursday. In order for the new electoral system to be implemented in the next general elections, an increased majority (namely 200 votes) is needed in Parliament.
