A 46-year-old Albanian man was arrested after he was found to be involved in the illicit trade of antiquities. The police were assisted by a private investigator, who had been informed on the 46-year-old’s intention to travel abroad to sell the ancient artifacts.
Upon his arrest, the police recovered a number of ancient artifacts, many of which are of Incan origin – a rather rare case of illicit trade in antiquities in Greece. A few of the other items recovered dated back to Hellenistic period (323 to 31 BC).
The 46-year-old man, who was living in K. Patisia with his family, had been working as a waiter and at a logistics company and claimed that he had no involvement in the illicit trade, telling police that the artifacts were given to him by friends.
