The return of refugees to Turkey is expected to begin on Monday, with about 5,300 refugees currently held at the hotspots on Lesvos, Samos and Chios.

According to Germany’s Deputy Government Spokesperson Christiane Wirtz though, certain conditions needs to be met before the return.

The latest official count indicates that there are a total of 51,393 refugees in Greece. In greater detail, 14,960 are in Attica and 28,451 in Northern Greece.

At present there are 11,324 refugees in Idomeni and about 5,750 are estimated to be in the port of Piraeus.
