SYRIZA MP and Left Platform member Stathis Leoutsakos has urged the government to break off negotiations with the institutions and carry on with its election campaign pledges. Mr. Leoutsakos, who appeared on Mega Channel on Monday morning, explained that there is a possibility of early elections taking place in the first couple weeks of September.
He added that there is nothing concrete at the moment, but underlined that the Left Platform is making preparations so that the third bailout is not voted in Parliament. According to Mr. Leoutsakos “SYRIZA and the bailout are incompatible concepts” and argued that his party cannot be the political body to bring a new, catastrophic for the people and country, bailout agreement.
When asked whether the Left Platform officers will resign or run independently in future elections, Mr. Leoutsakos responded that these were “preposterous scenarios” and underlined that it is important to «restore» SYRIZA and the government.
