The Minister of Productive Reconstruction, Environment and Energy Panagiotis Lafazanis has issued a statement regarding the upcoming referendum, urging the people to support the government in order to overcome the “brutal and ruthless plan to exhaust and blackmail” Greece.

Mr. Lafazanis argued that “in the past smaller countries were blackmailed with imperialist cannons, which have now bee replaced by a credit crunch and forcing the banks to shut down”. He then called the Greek people to not give in to the blackmail and demonstrate strength, resilience the fighting spirit that live up the people’s great traditions.

Furthermore, the Minister underlined that “the dirty, Machiavellian plans against the country and the Greek people must not pass” and that the people must remain calm the referendum on Sunday, where it will proudly “reject the proposals aimed at exhausting and eliminating their children”.

He concluded that “a powerful ‘no’ will be a big ‘yes’ for an independent and sovereign Greece, in defense on dignity, democratic traditions and the future of our people”.
