The Golden Dawn trial has entered its sixth day at the purpose-built courthouse in the Korydallos prison facility, where 68 individuals related to the neo-Nazi party – from the party leader to registered supporters – face serious criminal charges. Only 18 defendants attended the proceedings on Monday
The court president in the trial, Mrs. Maria Lepenioti, announced that she would request an exemption to allow defendants currently under house arrest to be able to attend the trial. This involves leading officers of the neo-Nazi party, including Nikos Michaloliakos and his wife Eleni Zaroulia.
Meanwhile, many objections were raised by attorneys of the defendants, in an effort to through out the civil action against them, such as in the case of Christos Stergiopoulos stands out. Stergiopoulos, who has already been found guilty for the murder of Shehzad Luqman, unsuccessfully claimed that only Luqman’s parents could a civil action. The attorney also claimed that his client “has nothing to do with Golden Dawn”.
