Film and theater director and producer Diagoras Chronopoulos passed away on Wednesday morning at the age of 76 after a long-term struggle with cancer.

Chronopoulos was born in Jerusalem and later studied law and theater in Athens. During the military dictatorship he was imprisoned for his activisim.

He directed ancient Greek and contemporary plays at the Herodion and Epidavros theaters. He also directed television series and documentaries for television and served as board member and director of the state-run ERT.
