Police officers in Thessaloniki arrested a 37-year-old woman on Thursday evening on charges of infanticide after being contacted by a local hospital.
The 37-year-old woman was taken to the local hospital on Thursday evening due to complications of a recent childbirth. When police were called out to investigate her, the 37-year-old admitted to having given birth in her apartment bathroom on the 12th of July.
According to the police report, the woman told the police that she wrapped the infant in two bag and hid it in her bedroom closet and two days later disposed of the body in a nearby garbage bin. The husband of the 37-year-old, who has also been questioned, claims that he was unaware of the childbirth.
The police have launched an investigation to locate the remains of the infant.
