The US Vice President Joe Bidden was invited to attend the 42nd Biennial Clergy-Laity Congress of Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America that is being held in Philadelphia, where he expressed his confidence regarding the Greek economy.
In his speech, the American Vice President appeared optimistic about the progress of the Greek economy and stressed the “constant support” offered by the American government, while praising Greece for its valuable role as a strategic ally and partner.
Regarding the Cypriot dispute, the American VP expressed his hope that a just solution can be agreed up in the near future and that all implicated sides could come to a beneficial compromise. Mr. Bidden also reported that after recent talks with the Turkism PM, he revealed that there good chances of the Theological School of Halki reopening.
The Clergy-Laity congress deal with the Church’s administrative and financial matters, as well as social issues such as charitable functions and the increasing influence the Church has in America.
