The General Secretariat for Civil Protection has issued a warning of a high risk of forest fire outbreaks on Wednesday in Attica, Viotia, Fokida, Argolida, Arcadia, Corinth, eastern Achaia and south-eastern Laconia.
According to the announcement, local government officials have been informed to remain vigilant in order to immediately tackle any fires and contact the Fire Brigade immediately (tel: 199) in case of a fire.
Additionally, Civil Protection has requested people to be extra careful not to inadvertently cause any fires with cigarettes or barbeques etc as well as to avoid burning any weeds and using equipment that may cause sparks (such as welding machines and saws).
