Professor Nikos Marantzidis is considering one of the “revisionists” in the field of History.
With his historical studies he sought to penetrate the Civil War, to systematically engage with the circumstances that triggered the fratricidal conflict.
To achieve that he “dug” deep in the years of the Occupation and before that, he dealt with questionable people and brought to light unknown sides and aspects that influenced the major events, which continue to influence and effect Greek society.
Some treated and continue to treat his work like an effort to smear the Left, they attribute ideological and other motives, but primarily they doubt the research and cultivate hostility towards anything that challenges their truth.
That hate armed the people who assaulted him out of the blue. That is the other side of fascism, which isn’t too far off from the Golden Dawn supporters who demanded from the National Theater actors to interrupt their play because it opposes the third party in parliament.
In both cases the motive is the same; suppressing free research and artistic expression because they do not agree with the beliefs and historical references of those who glamorize the well at Meligalas on the one hand and the Nazis on the other.
There can be no tolerance or time to waste against these phenomena.
Fascism has no color. In this case, the democratic struggle has two fronts.
