The local government employee union POE-OTA called a three hour walkout, between 10am and 1pm, to allow everyone to participate in the “marathon runner” march of school wardens, who arrived in Athens.
The school wardens, who are protesting against the sudden abolition of their job placements, began their march in Thessaloniki on the 28th of September. The wardens have dubbed their symbolic march as a “Marathon of Primary Surplus, Unemployment, Poverty and Destitution”.
On Monday the school wardens reached the Marathon tumulus and on Tuesday morning they reached the ERT HQ in Agia Paraskevi, before heading to Parliament in Syntagma Square.
