The recently-convicted Vicky Stamati is being hospitalized at the Psychiatric Hospital of Attica at Dafni, according to her attorney Alexis Kougias. The lawyer informed To Vima that Mrs. Stamati was taken to the hospital in a comatose state.
Mrs. Stamati was convicted on Monday for her participation in a bribery scandal involving her husband, the disgraced former Minister of National Defense Akis Tsohatzopoulos. The courts sentenced Mrs. Stamati to 12 years imprisonment, without the possibility of a suspended sentence through the appeal process.
According to Mr. Kougias Mrs. Stamati was transferred to the Sismanoglio Hospital on Tuesday evening and after refusing to remain there for hospitalization, was transferred to the Psychiatric Hospital on Wednesday, by order of the prosecution.
