The Vice President of Parliament Giannis Dragasakis announced that the controversial parliamentary amendment regarding the inclusion of heritage as a prerequisite to enroll in military and police schools has been withdrawn, to be resubmitted at the next bill.

PASOK MP Evi Christofilopoulou stated that her party considers the amendment to be “petty and phobic” and as such cannot be accepted. DIMAR MP Giorgos Kyritsis also expressed his objection to the amendment.

On the other hand ANEL leader Panos Kammenos, despite agreeing with the content f of the amendment, approved its withdrawal, on the basis that discussing it would violate parliamentary rules. Golden Dawn MP Ilias Kasidiaris claimed the amendment was withdrawn because “the Prime Minister is controlled by PASOK and DIMAR”.
