Marinopoulos SA, the firm operating the Carrefour-brand super-markets in Greece, has announced a precautionary recall of frozen foods made for the Comigel group. The “Lasagna Bolognaise Carrefour 1kg” and “Cannelloni Bolognaise Carrefour 600gr” have been recalled in light of recent revelation that horsemeat was found in products sold in Britain.

BBC News Europe reported that seven French super-market chains, including Carrefour, have recalled frozen meals containing beef. Irish and British authorities do not consider there to be any health risk. The EU’s Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) has not been activated.

The Hellenic Food Authority is currently conducting tests and in contact with their European counterparts and businesses, in order to take the necessary action.
