The police released the results of the investigation that was conducted following reports of police brutality in the case of the four people arrested over the bank robberies in Velvedo of Kozani.
In a press conference hosted by the head of the police’s Directorate of Internal Affairs Panagiotis Stathis, it was announced that there was no evidence of abuse and that all injuries sustained were during the confrontation to disarm and apprehend the suspects.
According to Mr. Stathis three of the four suspects resisted arrest, which he alleges is confirmed by evidence and verbal witnesses. The police insists that the injuries were a result of the struggle to subdue the suspects and to free the hostage doctor.
