The Ministry of Justice has included an amendment in their bill for the drug code, making provisions for the determination of age, in cases where the defendants do not have any legal or travel documents. The age of the defendant will be determined by a medical examiner.

That way it will be much harder for defendants to claim to be underage, resulting in beneficial criminal and correctional treatment. The amendment comes in response to the assault against a 15-year-old girl in Paros over the summer. The 21-year-old Pakistani accused of the attacks at first claimed to be underage, so as to receive better treatment.
