At the request of the Minister of Justice Christos Athanasiou, the Prime Minister Antonis Samaras has ordered to appoint senior judicial positions based on seniority. As such, Mrs. Efterpi Koutzamani is the new Supreme Court Public Prosecutor, replacing the outgoing Ioannis Tentes.

Aside from filling out for outgoing Prosecutor Tentes, Mrs. Koutzamani has had extensive experience in a number of key cases, such as the trial of the “17 November” militant group. She is the first woman to become prosecutor in Greece and the first female prosecutor in the Supreme Court.

The position of Supreme Court President was filled by until-recently Vice President Michael Theoharidis, who will however resign next June to retire. The six vacant vice president positions were filled by Yannis Sideris, Spyridon Mitsialis, Nikolaos Leontis, Antonios Athinaios, Grigorios Koutsopoulos and Dimitra Papantonopoulou.

Regarding the State Council, Sotiris Rizos was appointed president, Nikolaos Rozos and was promoted to the rank of vice president and Evangelos Dais was appointed vice president of the Court of Auditors.
