The Greek statistics authority ELSTAT has published its latest labor force survey, which shows that the rate of unemployment during the first trimester of 2016 was 24.9%, up from 24.4% in the final quarter of 2015.
According to ELSTAT’s survey, during the first quarter of 2016 the number of employed amounted to 3,606,344 persons, while the number of unemployed amounted to 1,195,084.
In greater detail, the number of employed persons dropped by 1% compared to the previous quarter and increased by 2.9% compared to the first quarter of 2015. Similarly, the number of unemployed persons increased by 1.7% compared to the previous quarter and decreased by 6.1% compared to the first quarter of 2015.
