Many farmers appear determined to further escalate their strike actions, in spite of the recent divisions among their ranks, following the initiative of the Fthiotida block to submit its own, separate list of proposals to the government.

As such, many road blocks on the Athens-Thessaloniki national highways are prepared to cut off traffic, which will essentially cut the country in two and cause major congestion problems, as drivers are forced to use provincial and rural roads.

On Tuesday, truck drivers almost clashed with the protesting farmers at the road block at Bralos, which is located between Lamia and Amfissa, after they broke through police lines. The truck drivers were frustrated as they had remained immobilized for hours, with the line of cars exceeding 20 kilometers.
