The Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has arranged to meet with the President of the European Council Donald Tusk on Tuesday morning in Athens, just two days before the upcoming EU summit on the refugee crisis.

Although the reforms requested by the United Kingdom to remain an EU member-state is expected to be the main issue on the agenda, the discussion between the two will undoubtedly also focus on refugee crisis. PM Tsiprashas also arranged to meet with the President of the European CommissionJean-Claude Junckerin Brussels on Wednesday.

During the meeting, PM Tsipras underlined that it is not the time for exits and stressed that Europe must be united in order to face the challenges that lie ahead, in his meeting with European Council president Donald Tusk. Mr. Tsipras further elaborated that the efforts for a solution in Syria must intensify, in an effort to address the refugee crisis. During the meeting NATO’s involvement was discussed, in relation to the patrols against human traffickers from Turkey.

According to Mr. Tusk, the European Council’s main tasks at hand are addressing the refugee crisis and the possibility the United Kingdom leaving the European Union. Mr. Tusk recognized that Greece has been affected the most from the refugee crisis and stressed that a potential exclusion from the Schengen area is no solution, nor will it address any problem or help towards ending the conflict in Syria.
