The recent departures from SYRIZA signal a transitional phase that concluded with the weekend’s nationwide meeting, argued former Minister Nikos Voutsis.

Mr. Voutsis told Mega Channel on Monday morning that after the departures, the party can now focus and move forward with “winning prospects” and underlined that the Left must let go of the “superstar attitude«.

According to the former Minister “the personal strategies and ambitions within a party and area of collectivity, solidarity, movement awareness and selflessness offer no good and a time comes when you realize that you have more presidents, or potential presidents or imaginary presidents than you can maintain”.

Regarding the past seven months when SYRIZA was in power, Mr. Voutsis admitted that tactical mistakes and wrong estimations were mad, but stressed that the party was honest and gave its best.

When asked about the refugee crisis, Mr. Voutsis noted that it was a major problem for SYRIZA and argued that while the level of cooperation with Turkish authorities was good, he alleged that there are fake NGOs cooperating with human traffickers.
