The Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reconstruction submitted its draft bill which will aim to rehire redundant civil servants and reinstate suspended employees, among others. The bill will be examined by the relevant committee and after discussion by the assembly, it will be voted upon.

The bill refers to about 3,900 – school guards, cleaning staff at the Ministry of Finances, former municipal police officers, secondary education technical teachers, university administrative employee among others – who were either made redundant or suspended in public sector.

It will also seek to appoint about 4,000 who were successful in ASEP exams, but have yet to be posted. Essentially the bill seeks to reverse a number of policies that were implemented due to the commitments of the previous governments.
