The blockades of tractors will remain as is today, as the farmers are participating in the 24-hour general strike across Greece. On Thursday representatives of 34 blockades will meet at the Nikea junction on the old Athens-Thessaloniki national highway, in order to discuss and decide upon future action.
Thessaly farmers from the Nikea junction have joined the GSEE and ADEDY protest in Larissa, with their tractors. In Thessaloniki, the Halkidona blockage farmers will hand out sugar to passers-by, while others will participate in the 10:30 meeting at the Worker’s Center.
In Serres farmers will join the protest in town at 11am and will then shut down the junction in Lefkona at 2pm for an hour. Farmers at the Kerdyllia blockage will close the Kavala-Serres road for an hour at 2:30pm. Farmers in Rodolivos, Drama and Kavala will remain at their blockades.
In Evros and Rodopi, farmers have parked their tractors outside the Sugar Industry factory in Ferres, at the Kallisti junction on the Komotini-Xanthe national highway, as well as at the Customs office of Kipi. In Orestiada farmers will take over the city center tax office at 11am for an hour.
