Golden Dawn MP Ilias Kasidiaris has been absolved by the appeal court for the “Baltakos scandal”, where the MP of the neo-Nazi party recorded a conversation he had with the government’s general secretary at the time Takis Baltakos.

The appeal court adopted the prosecutor’s proposal, namely that Kasidiaris should not be tried, on account that the controversial discussion was over matters of public interest.

The prosecutor also noted that the controversial discussion took place in Mr. Baltakos’ office with the door open, allowing third parties to enter. As such, there was not privacy being infringed.

Kasidiaris, along with the rest of Golden Dawn’s MPs, still faces serious criminal charges in the ongoing trial that was prompted after the murder of Pavlos Fyssas.
