The caretaker government, which will be sworn in at 1pm on Friday, will be comprised from 16 members and will be tasked with organizing the upcoming general elections. The new Prime Minister Vasiliki Thanou was sworn in on Thursday evening, who afterwards had a short discussion with President Prokopis Pavlopoulos, before heading to Maximos Mansion, where she took over from Alexis Tsipras.

The outgoing Prime Minister wished her the best of luck, with his successor commenting that aside from organizing the snap election, the caretaker government may be called to address critical matters, such as migration. When asked by To Vima how she feels about assuming the post of Prime Minister during such a critical period for Greece, Mrs. Thanou responded that “I have been in the fight for years, this is yet another front”.
