The Minister of Administrative Reform Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced on SKAI’s morning chat show that the evaluation procedures will be expanded to all public utilities and the wider public sector, in an effort to locate surplus staff members. Mr. Mitsotakis noted this will also apply to public companies which have merged, such as public transport; companies which are to be privatized will however be excluded from the measure.

When asked about dismissals, the Minister explained that 2,000 of the 4,000 dismissals agreed upon will come from ERT, except from the former ERT employees who are rehired in the (as yet non-existent) new public radio and televisions stations. Mr. Mitsotakis stated that the dismissals in defense industries EAS and ELVO will also be included in the 4,000, as are about 300 civil servants who face misconduct charges.

Mr. Mitsotakis repeated his intention of including contract staff in the 4,000 dismissals, which the troika representatives have repeatedly shot down, since contracted employees are not technically considered to be civil servants. Regarding the next wave of 12,500 suspensions, the Minister claimed that he was going to ask the troika representatives for a deadline extension.
