The Prosecutor Eleni Raikou has ordered the investigation of fraud and embezzlement accusations made public by a regional councilor, in relation to the call for investments in the luxurious “Asteras” hotel in Vouliagmeni by privatization fund TAIPED.

The regional councilor Nikos Galanos, who filled the report, met with the Prosecutor for Financial Crimes Yannis Dragatsis and discussed his claims. Mr. Galanos reported that the State is facing millions of euros worth of damages by the attempted investment process followed by TAIPED.

Mr. Galanos explained that while the investment proclamation refers to 8,600 square meters of real estate being available, the environmental report of the Regional Council notes that there are 39,000 square meters. Mr. Dragatsis will later meet with representatives of the National Bank and TAIPED to investigate the judicial aspects of the case.
