An amendment tabled on Wednesday evening in Parliament has sparked major controversy among the employees of the EKAV ambulance services.
The intention of the provision is to cover shortages in manpower and equipment and as such allows EKAV to sign contracts with airlines or other transportation firms to cover its needs.
Following a late-night general assembly on Wednesday, the of EKAV employees decided to carry out a strike between 8am and 2pm on Thursday.
