The upcoming vote to lift the parliamentary immunity of the remaining Golden Dawn MPs has caused some concern amongst SYRIZA MPs, who have expressed their reservations and could potentially vote against the motion.
The opposition party’s parliamentary group will discuss the issue today, with the party’s political secretariat having decided to support the immunity lift. However, certain MPs such as Alexis Mitropoulos and Zoi Konstantopoulou have expressed legal reservations over the move, while Yannis Michelogiannakis has already informed his party in writing that he will vote against the motion.
Additionally, Manolis Glezos has repeatedly expressed his reservation over the parliamentary immunity lift and has differentiated himself from SYRIZA’s official line on the matter. The concerned MPs believe that the immunity lift may turn out to be counterproductive, since the evidence against some Golden Dawn MPs is insufficient.
