The coalition government has decided to introduce taxes on beer, landline telephony and the Internet earlier than initially planned, according to a last-minute amendment submitted on Sunday.

As such, the tax on beer – which is set to double – is scheduled to come into effect in June 2016, rather than January 2018. Furthermore, while the 5% tax on fixed telephony and Internet will come into effect in January 2017, rather than July 2017.

Furthermore, another amendment also abolishes the special ax exemption on natural gas that for industries and craft enterprises. The abolition will have retroactive effect from January 2016.
