The first session of the Golden Dawn trial at the Athens Appeal Court, after being transferred from Korydallos, began on Monday with a demonstration being held outside.

Upon arriving at the courts, Golden Dawn member and self-confessed murderer Giorgos Roupakias reacted to being photographed and attempted to violently pull the camera away from photojournalist Tatiana Bolari. The neo-Nazi party member also used sexist language and had to be taken away from the court, due to the major reactions from photographers, court audience members and the Fyssas family.

The police had to intervene, as the uncle of the murdered anti-fascist activist and rapper Pavlos Fyssas got into a fight with defense attorney Karydomatis. The mother of the murdered activist Magda Fyssa also complained that she was threatened. The civil prosecution also informed the court that a witness in the case was assaulted outside the court room.
