About 7 out of 10 Greeks blame the Greek system for the major financial crisis of the past five years, while only 1 in 10 believe that foreign interventions are the cause, claims a nationwide study carried out by diaNoesis, GPO and Pantion University.
The survey, the results of which are published in Ta Nea, shows that 97.8% of Greeks believe that the inefficiency and corruption of Greek governments were decisive factors in the crisis, while 84.1% claim that the practice of borrowing to consume, rather than produce is to blame.
Additionally, the survey reveals that about 6 out of 10 Greek believe that Greece has benefited from its 35 years in the European Union, in relation to financial development and prosperity, while 46.2% argue Greece was harmed. Finally, just 3 out of 10 believe that Greece has benefited from the EU in relation to public administration.
