The Ministry of Economy, Infrastructure, Shipping and Tourism has categorically disputed reports media suggesting that a deregulation of house auctions is imminent.
On the contrary, the Ministry announced that it is preparing a plan to manage non-serviceable loans, after receiving confirmation from the IMF, EU and ECB.
A report in the Real News newspaper suggested that the Greek government was under pressure to deregulate house actions at the request of the European Central Bank.
The newspaper article further claimed that the ECB rejected a Greek proposal to protect primary residences with a taxable value of 250,000 to 300,000 euros. Previous legislation protected residences up to the value of 200,000 euros.
