The Minister of Education Andreas Loverdos is planning on reinstating beneficial transfer provisions for university students who are registered in departments that are far away from their home.
The student university transfers had been restricted by Mr. Loverdos predecessor Konstantinos Arvanitopoulos, who was unable to complete his changes before the cabinet reshuffle. The details on the new transfer system will be announced on Wednesday.
According to the new system proposed by the Minister of Education, underprivileged and poor families would primarily benefit. Mr. Loverdos promised that the new system would be quicker and that the measure is part of interventions “that do not necessitate funds, state expenses and false promises”.
