Katerina Stefanidi won the bronze medal in women’s pole vaulting at the IAAF World Indoor Track and Field Championships that are taking place in Portland, USA.
The Greek athlete finished third in the competition, behind the USA’s Jennifer Suhr and Sandi Morris with a 4.80-meter vault. Greece was also represented by Nicole Kyriakopoulou in the event, who finished in sixth place after clearing a 4.60-meter vault.
This is the first medal in the competition since Pigi Devetzi won the silver in the triple jump at the 2008 games in Valencia. In total Greek athletes have won 11 medals in the IAAF indoor championships.
