A fire broke out for unknown reasons in a second floor apartment in Tavros, shortly after 5am on Friday, which temporarily trapped a family of three.
The Fire Brigade was quick to respond to the call and managed to rescue the couple and their five-year-old daughter. The family resided on the first floor, but was unable to reach the exit due to the smoke. Nineteen firefighters and six fire brigade vehicles were dispatched to tackle the blaze.
Only the first two floors of the seven-story apartment building are presently occupied, so there was no threat posed by the fire further spreading. An investigation is being carried out to determine the cause of the fire.
