Venizelos and Ieronymos discuss Church matters

The president of government partner PASOK Evangelos Venizelos had a meeting with Archbishop of Athens Ieronymos at the Petrakis Monastery, in order to discuss church matters.

The Archbishop explained that “it is our duty to help our people in their hardships, to support them and tell them to be patient and to fight, to be united and not panic, to be optimistic because we have overcome many crises in this land and we will overcome this crisis too”.

Mr. Venizelos asserted that “because the main purpose of the Church is to save people, it is very important to broadcast a message of optimism” and further stated that “the message is one of recovery and prospective”. Meanwhile, Mr. Venizelos stressed that PASOK “will always act as a stabilization factor, in order to find solutions to the relations between the state and Church and the problems of regular people”.

The president of PASOK also mentioned that his conversations with the Archbishop are especially interesting and crucial “because he views issues with love, moderation and discretion” and added that “the Church is neither a state institution, nor a simple NGO, but a holy organization”.
