The main opposition party New Democracy has left the Parliamentary discussion on the off-shores amendment, which aims to ban ministers, MPs and other officials from owning or participating in off-shore companies.

New Democracy’s spokesperson in Parliament Nikos Dendias claimed that the previous regulation has been published and as such provides retroactive cover to off-shore owners. Mr. Dendias further argued that the amendment is “so strict” that it conflicts with constitutional provisions and cannot be implemented.
