“Maximus” was convicted in Sweden hours before traveling to Greece

The 29-year-old jihadist terrorist Mirsad Bektasevic, who is also known as “Maximus” and “Abu Imaad As Sandzaki” was well-known to Swedish authorities and may have ties with Al Qaeda and the so-called “Islamic State”.

According to a police officer, the 29-year-old had gone to Syria where he fought on the side of ISIS and likely participated in slaughters. He was also keen to show off his actions online, particularly between 2013 and 2014.

The police officer told To Vima that Greek authorities are surprised that their Swedish colleagues have so far not shown any interest in the arrest of the Bektasevic, given that he is considered of the more active fanatics at present. The officer also expressed his frustration that while Greece is threatened with expulsion from the Schengen area as a ‘security threat’, Swedish authorities do not bother monitoring the blatant movements of ISIS members.

Spectacularly, it was also revealed that the 29-year-old terrorist had been given a short-term prison sentence by the Swedish courts only hours before he traveled to Greece. Shortly after he was handed a conviction, he traveled to Denmark with the 20-year-old accomplice and from there on to Greece.

Swedish author Magnus Sandelin published a book on Jihad in 2012 and dedicated an entire chapter on the 29-year-old. To Vima contacted Sandelin, who explained that the Swedish-Bosnian had been arrested for theft and illegal possession of weapons in Sweden over the past three years.

Mr. Sandelin added that it is likely that he traveled to Syria in 2013, after his release from prison, where he probably stayed for about six months and participated in battles. In earlier posts on social media he appeared to take a stand against the so-called “Islamic State” and presented himself as an Al Qaeda supporter.
