The Coast Guard announced that it located and rescued a total of 65 migrants in two operations near Samos and Agathonisi, early on Thursday morning.

In the first operation, the Coast Guard located an inflatable boat carrying 31 migrants near Cape Praso. The migrants were rescued and taken to Vathy.

The second operation took place about 2.5 nautical miles northeast of Agathonisi. When the Coast Guard arrived a few of the migrants were overboard, while their boat was leaking. In total 34 migrants were rescued and taken to the island’s port authorities.
