Although there has not yet been an official response by Parliament to the turmoil that was cause on Wednesday when the detained Golden Dawn MPs Michaloliakos, Pappas and Lagos attended the discussion that stripped them of their immunity, Christos Markogiannakis announced that an inquiry and disciplinary proceedings will be launched.
Shortly before the hearing was due to start in Parliament, a group of Golden Dawn employees and family members of the detained MPs yelled provocative chants before the Parliamentary guards. This took place despite an order being issued to ban members of the public from attending the hearing, including parliamentary employees and accredited journalists.
On Thursday morning Mr. Markogiannakis explained that disciplinary proceedings will be initiated as video footage shows employees of the neo-Nazi party participating in the events. Mr. Markogiannakis stated that the neo-Nazi party’s provocations “will not remain unanswered”.
