The Police’s cyber crime division announced yesterday that it arrested a 47-year-old man for selling university essays and dissertations online, via Facebook.
According to the police report, the 47-year-old had set up a Facebook page advertising his trade, promising to complete essays and dissertations for a price. The 47-year-old appears to have had a group of at least 1008 writers and charged 2,000 to 10,000 euros per essay, depending on the subject and degree.
Based on evidence recovered from the 47-year-old, the illegal trade appears to have had 250 customers, but the police estimates that there could be more than 2,500 “buyers”.
The 47-year-old’s operation provided essays for a wide range of degrees and courses, ranging from Human Resource Management and IT to Industrial Waste Management and Tourist Studies.
