Golden Dawn’s Themis Skordeli is finally going to face the courts today for a variety of misdemeanor charges, such as forgery, intellectual property and firework violations, after having postponed the trial seven times.
The 50-year-old Golden Dawn member, who was a candidate with the ultranationalist party in the 2012 elections, has repeatedly avoided trial by claiming to suffer from psychological problems, which were certified by “Golden Dawn’s psychiatrist” Konstantinos Paraschakis.
Although Skordeli will face the courts for possessing large quantities of counterfeit CDs, DVDs and hand-bags, she has been involved in many violent instances against immigrants in the troubled Agios Panteleimonas neighborhood in down town Athens. In 2011 she was arrested along with two other Golden Dawn members after breaking into a house and injuring an Afghan migrant worker with a knife.
