New delays for public sector dismissals

According to a report by “Ta Nea”, there appear to be new delays in coming up with the list of 12,500 employees who are expected to enter a state of suspension.

While the government managed to get an extension and agreed to proceed with the first 2,000 dismissals for 2013 in September (rather than June, as initially agreed), the further delays will only jeopardize what little trust may be left.

The Ministry of Administrative Reform suggests that the commitment was to present a plan for 12,500 employees entering a state of suspension, rather than actually proceeding with suspensions and dismissals.
