The former President of PASOK Evangelos Venizelos has predicted that New Democracy will come first in the upcoming general elections.

According to Mr. Venizelos, should SYRIZA lose the elections it will not join a coalition government in order to adopt anti-bailout austerity, despite agreeing to and introducing the third bailout.

As such, he argued, it is important for SYRIZA to be a part of the next government “at all cost”, while underlining the need for an ecumenical government.

Mr. Venizelos underlined that he warned SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras of what to expect from Greece’s partners, while estimating that rate of recession will go over 7%, while the GDP loss will be about 20 billion euros.

Regarding his party, the former president stated the split in PASOK was unjust and self-loathing and when asked about the Democratic Left, he estimated that “Mr. Kouvelis became a minority in his own party”.
