The Alternate Minister of Public Order Yannis Panousis has refused rumors that he has had a falling out with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Interior Minister Nikos Voutsis.
Mr. Panousis told journalists that he has never considered resigning from his post and noted that if he asked to implement a policy with which he agrees, he will then discuss it with the Prime Minister. He also claimed that the idea to transfer the Public Order portfolio from the Ministry of Interior to the Ministry of Justice was his own.
When asked about the ongoing occupations at universities across Greece, Mr. Panousis repeated that he is in favor of “responding moderately” to such phenomena, adding that each situation must be assessed according to its circumstances.
