Earlier arrests

Prior to Spyropouloulou’s arrest, the counter-terrorism police arrested three other people who are accused of joining the Conspiracy of Fire Cells – a 32 year old man a 36-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man.

The 32-year-old man is accused of passing on a number of items to Angeliki Spyropoulou, which was to be used in a daring prison escape. The list of items include digital files, 6,000 euros in cash, a GPS jammer and laser scopes that were to be used in the assault on the prison. The 36-year-old woman is thought to have acted as a liaison between Christodoulos Xiros, Angeliki Spyropoulou and another person.

DNA traces of the 39-year-old man had been found in a mail bomb that had been sent to prosecutor Dimitris Mokkas in September 2013, a time bomb that was placed at the Korydallos tax office in March 2014 and an explosive bomb that was sent to the Itea Police Department director in April 2014.
