The Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis expressed his confidence that a legislative amendment that sets prescription caps would go through in Parliament, otherwise, across the board measures would have to be introduced, including reducing the price of medicine, including the profit margins of pharmaceutical companies.
Mr. Georgiadis made the comments at a conference for Greek pharmaceuticals, where he appeared. The Health Minister introduced the amendment for discussion in parliament, after the State Council issued a temporary suspension order on the prescription caps.
The amendment stipulates that the Health Minister may issue orders for setting a budget, prescription goals, restrictions and any other measure to monitor and regulate doctor prescriptions.
