The Governor of the Bank of Greece Giorgos Provopoulos is expected to meet with the heads of the troika either on Tuesday afternoon or early on Wednesday morning, to discuss the capital needs of the Greek banks.
Over the weekend, the troika’s technical team went over the divs of Blackrock’s stress tests, as well as the findings of independent studies conducted by Ernst & Young and Rothchild.
On Thursday the Bank of Greece is going to announce the additional capital needs of the systemic banks in Greece, with latest estimates suggesting a total 6-6.6 billion euro total. The troika is not expected to comment on the central bank’s announcement.
The publication of the stress test results will ave the way for the submission in Parliament of provisions that will bring changes to the bank recapitalization procedures and the operation of the Financial Stability Fund.
Mr. Provopoulos will depart for Frankfurt on Wednesday, where he will attend the European Central Bank’s board meeting.
